Helmets

When choosing, it is important to see which type of helmet you need. The helmet must fit well on your head. Helmets with an adjustable fit can be adjusted to the circumference of your head. If a helmet does not have this, you can measure the circumference of your head just above your eyebrows. Then check the size chart to see which size you need. Do you have any questions or need advice? Then our customer service will be happy to help you.

Which helmet is right for me?

Helmets come in many different shapes and sizes. There are moped helmets, bicycle helmets and skate helmets. They all have one thing in common and that is that they offer protection against serious head injuries. There are different requirements for each type of helmet, so it is important to know what these are before buying a helmet.

If you want to ride a moped or motorcycle, it is mandatory in Europe to wear an approved helmet. You can recognize this by the label with a circle containing the capital letter E with a number, this is the so-called ECE mark. The number indicates in which country the helmet has been approved. For example, the number 4 stands for the Netherlands. The number only indicates in which country the inspection took place. It does not mean that you can only wear the helmet in the Netherlands. The helmets with an ECE mark can be worn throughout Europe.

In the Netherlands it has been mandatory since 1 January 2023 to wear a moped helmet or a speed pedelec helmet on a light moped (25 km/h). The difference is mainly in the design and weight of the helmet. Other safety requirements apply to the speed pedelec helmet. These helmets must comply with an NTA 8775 inspection, this hallmark is marked in the helmet.

There is no helmet requirement in the Netherlands for electric bicycles (up to 25 km/h), electric scooters and electric skateboards. You can choose whether you wear a helmet, we always recommend this. Only the safety requirements of a European standard apply to these helmets. For adults this is EN1078 and for children EN 1078.
